The Lighthouse Juice Bar is a juice and smoothie bar, opening for the first full season in Barnegat Light in 2022, dedicated to providing the community with fresh, refreshing juices, bowls, smoothies and fruit whips.

At 17th Street and Central Avenue, the Lighthouse Juice Bar invites people from the front corner of the Barnegat Light Therapeutic Massage office. Customers bike, walk, run or drive down to experience healthy refreshments as a delicious snack or meal replacement.

“We take great pride in providing quality products and friendly service, and it takes love and dedication to provide such service and products,” said owner Linda Gerber.

Juice menu developer Gerber holds a plant-based certification from Cornell University. She has studied nutrition and “how good, clean foods have been fueling our bodies for healthy living for decades,” she said.

Her love of healthy eating while settling by the sea has made this addition to Barnegat Light a best kept secret to this day.

Nicholle Barcalow runs the day-to-day operations while business partner Toni Murphy oversees the day-to-day operations and coordinating the maintenance of a clean, efficiently run and fun venue.

Each customer’s choice is made to order to ensure freshness and quality.

“Our juices are organic, cold-pressed varieties. Our smoothies all have organic coconut-based fruits or organic almond milk-based,” outlines Gerber. “Our fruit whips are purely organic fruit that undergoes a special machine resulting in a smooth, flavorful treat alternative. We have a variety of toppings that are also a nutritious addition.”

The menu leads to extensive options. One of the favorites is the homemade gluten-free granola with pumpkin, sesame, walnuts and cinnamon rolled in a sprinkling of organic local honey and organic coconut oil. Additional toppings can also be added to the açai bowls, smoothies and whips.

The reporter sampled “By the Sea,” a mix of mangoes, almonds, bananas, and spinach. The satisfaction of top-notch taste and healthy consumption is enough to draw you to this northern haven every day.

“In addition to our high-quality range, we also offer some inflammation and wellness shots,” emphasizes Gerber. “We juice organic turmeric root along with ginger and blend it with our fresh, cold-pressed oranges. With bee pollen, cayenne pepper and co. we can help you to strengthen your immune system. We don’t add sugar to any of our ingredients.”

The ingredients are all locally sourced and organic. “Our Açai bowls simply contain all the benefits of the antioxidant berry from Brazil without any additional additives.”

Customers with nut sensitivity will find a nut-free version here – just ask.

Bridge Juice and Acai Bowl.

“We have a number of blenders and juicers that have never processed nuts,” Gerber said on a busy Saturday morning recently. “We’re not a nut-free establishment, but we do look out for those who need us to be careful.”

Gerber and Murphy said: “We started by coming to the seaside as two friends who are passionate about providing good, healthy alternative living in an environment conducive to well-being. There was just something about the fresh, clean sea air that made us want to establish a therapeutic massage practice in our northern part of the island.”

Business partners outlined the massage practice: “Whether it’s a relaxing massage, chronic pain, sports injury and recovery, we specialize in meeting the client where they are in their lives. We constantly strive to stay up to date with Myofascial Release, CranioSacral Therapy, EPAT Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Therapeutic Massage.

“We have come together as a company to serve the community fully and broadly and together with Toni’s daughter, local firefighter Nicholle, we are a force dedicated to serving the community as a whole.”
