Age is just a number for Tess. “I really believe you’re only as old as you feel,” she said Health & Wellbeing. “I truly believe that as long as I’m fit and healthy, I’m able to do exactly what I want my body to do and I’m enjoying my life, I’m fine. I am so thankful for good health – you get what you put into it. I’ve been taking care of myself for as long as I can remember, I had to do it for my business reasons but also because I want to enjoy a long and healthy life, I honestly thought maybe I might feel different now that I’m reaching this landmark age reached, but I have none. I have children and they require you to be physically and mentally fit. You keep me young – at least young at heart!”

Tess refuses to skip meals: “I’m a three-meal-a-day girl, and I also do a lot of grazing,” she told Health & Wellbeing. “I start the day with oatmeal, blueberries, and maple syrup, or I puree some mango and toss in a few slices of banana, then sprinkle on some granola and flaxseed. That said, on the weekends I’ll splurge and we’ll make pancakes for brunch, usually with the girls, which is always fun—I don’t avoid the pancakes or the homemade french toast!Lunch can be a falafel wrap with veggies and Hummus, a homemade veggie burger, or a tuna mayo sandwich. Dinner is usually rice, vegetables, and chicken, or I make fajitas and we make fried chicken on the weekends. Chicken is the only meat I eat – I haven’t eaten red meat since I was a teenager.

Tess has a “sweet tooth that needs to be satisfied!” she said Health & Wellbeing. “I can’t imagine life without chocolate and cake. I could never resist cake because that’s what an unhappy life is all about. I am a big believer in moderation we all, once we deny each other treats then we become fixated on it and it becomes an unhealthy relationship. I subscribe to the theory that a little of what you love is good for you — as long as you’re not reckless, it’s not necessarily an unhealthy choice. Eat a chocolate bar at 4pm – we’re Brits, for goodness sake, afternoon tea used to be a meal here – it’s still at my house!’

Tess focuses on being strong, not skinny. “It’s strong enough that I can do whatever I ask my body to do without it feeling tired,” she told Health & Wellness. “Fitness means avoiding pain and feeling strong, which I like. I’m someone who has a hard time staying still – I’m always on the go and I like that. I like being physically active, it’s always been a part of my life so exercising means I can stay strong and fit and not feel my age.”

Tess works out with a pro to stay in shape. “I work out with a trainer a few times a week and then at home I’ll bounce, do some light weights or get on the treadmill — I can do 15 minutes, look at something on the iPad at the same time and not even realize I’m run – happy days! Isn’t that what you want to hear in your magazine? Sorry!” she said to Health & Wellbeing. “I dread going to the gym but when I get there I find I enjoy my workout and afterwards I’m so glad I did. I think we all feel a little bit like that, very often. We’re intimidated by the thought of embarking on this routine because it’s hard, but if it were easy everyone would do it and we’d all have six pack abs. So it’s a commitment, but it’s one I’ll commit to myself because I reap the benefits. I like to eat a little of what I like and wear the same size jeans I’ve worn since I was 20.

Tess has a great way to pass the time while doing cardio. “I have a treadmill where I realized I could watch Netflix and run 5K at the same time,” she says. “I would never sit down and watch TV during the day, but on the treadmill I can justify it,” she shared women health.
