MetroPlusHealth’s dietitian benefits package is among the most generous in the United States The new extension of ongoing care will provide city staff with support for healthy living
NEW YORK, August 2, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — As the cost of healthy food and diet-related diseases increases in the city, MetroPlusHealth, New York City’s quality and affordable healthcare plan, today announced its $0 Expanded the benefits of nutritionists for city employees included in the Gold Plan. MetroPlusHealth is the first commercial insurance provider to offer free visits to nutritionists in the country. The expanded offering would allow city workers and eligible family members in the plan to receive free nutritional advice with 26 visits to a nutritionist per year. The program is currently available to Gold members with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and high cholesterol. With this expansion, nearly 20,000 current members will be eligible. The service also includes nutritional advice as a preventive measure: A healthier diet reduces the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Diet is not a one-size-fits-all solution, which is why a customized plan through the advice of a nutritionist is essential.
