Ireland has been very open about her struggles with body image issues and the treatment she received for anorexia and bulimia. “I got a call from my old program yesterday… 6 years 🎉,” she continued in a 2020 video Instagram. “Wanted to announce that today is August 15th and that today I am six years free from anorexia and bulimia and all my other compulsive eating and eating disorders that I have struggled with for many years,” she said. “And today it’s six years. So you can do it.”

Ireland regularly exercises for both physical and mental health. She does cardio and strength training, and also loves boxing and regularly shares her workouts on social media. “As part of an overall heart-healthy lifestyle, regular cardio exercise can do more than just increase your rest blood pressure and heart rate, but these fundamental changes can also mean your heart doesn’t have to work unnecessarily hard all the time, says the clinical exercise physiologist Erik Van Iterson, PhD, MS.” says the Cleveland Clinic.

Ireland encourages developing healthy habits and staying away from toxins. In an Instagram post, she breathed a message of self-love. “yoooo!!! love your body. respect your body,” she said, discouraging people from wasting money on Juul pods and spending it on vitamins and veggies instead. “Have your tits checked. get active Vitamin D. Breathe fresh air. Be happy. Laugh it all away Spend your remaining time on this earth with people who love you and make you feel good and if you don’t have many of those people go out and look for them. Some of you guys take this whole life thing so damn seriously… and it’s not worth it like that,” she captioned it.

Ireland has seen its fair share of body shaming over the years. “I saw what people said about me, that of course I modeled because I was so-and-so’s daughter. ‘She’s fat, she’s disgusting.’ I would pull myself down like that,” she told Megyn Kelly on TODAY. So she made a decision: “Today I’m going to stop reading these comments and I won’t bother anymore. I stopped looking at articles and paparazzi photos altogether. I won’t even look anymore. I owe it to myself.”

Ireland avoids extreme diets. “I don’t eat well at all. I go through so many phases. I eat a month more vegan or vegetarian or I eat a burger again. I’m such a foodie. I hate missing out on salad over anything in the world. i love my wine I need to eat fun food,” she told Today.
